Randolph and Hubard families papers [manuscript], circa1861-1915.

The collection consists chiefly of letters, ca.1895-1896, to Mary Randolph Hubbard Mathews of Rock Hill and Laurens, S.C. from her parents in Nelson County, Va. and from her fiance and future husband, Edward Miles Mathews. The collection also contains photographic copies of portraits of various members of the Hubard and Randolph families. Of interest is a tintype of Lewis C. Randolph in Confederate uniform. In addition, the collection contains 20th century photocopies of miscellaneous Randolph and Hubard family correspondence and documents, including a letter from Martha Jefferson Randolph to Sarah Carter Randolph, 1834; notes on farming and weather, 1847-1853; and the Green Peyton map of Albemarle County (in sections), 1875.
