James Joyce papers of Charles E. Kellogg [manuscript], 1904-2002.

The papers consist of ephemera acquireded by Kellogg in the course of compiling his James Joyce book collection and additions made by his son, University of Virginia professor Robert Kellog. The collection includes an index to the collection; photocopies of Joyce notes, a letter and two Dublin newspapers for Bloomsday, June 16, 1904; clippings of book and movie reviews and articles on Joyce; and a disk containing John Kidd's "Inquiry into 'Ulysses': the corrected text." The collection also includes photographs of Kellogg in Ireland; maps of Dublin; dealers catalogs; and brochures, newsletters and solicitation letters from the James Joyce Centre in Dublin.

James Augustus Aloysius Joyce was born on February 2, 1882, in Rathgar, a borough of Dublin, Ireland, the eldest of ten children who survived infancy. In 1888 he was enrolled at Clongowes Wood College, a Jesuit boarding school near Dublin, where he stayed until 1891. Thereafter he attended Belvedere College, and then University College, Dublin, where he graduated in 1902 with a major in Italian.
