Physics notebooks of Frank Loucks Hereford, later president of the University of Virginia. Notebook from 1943-1944 labelled "Angle Solver" on cover and "Confidential" on page 1concerns development of a gunsight and mentions consultations with Dr. Beams, Snoddy and Allison. Notebook 2, titled "Acceleration of Electrons" and "Cavity Resonator" contains loose papers including notes andphotographs as well as a letter from his future wife Ann. Book I "Amplidyne Drive," 1944, is also labelled "Confidential." Nuclear Physics Book I is undated and contains a tipped in letter from Leonard Eisenbud. Nuclear Physics Book II, 1949-1950, contains loose notes written on the versos of the final pages of report on athletics at the University of Virginia. Electro-Magnetic Theorey, 1951-1952, appears to have been used for class demonstrations.
