The collection consists of miscellaneous souvenirs from the opening of the Albert and Shirley Small Special Collections Library and the Mary and David Harrison Institute for American History, Literature and Culture. The collection conrtains keepsakes presented to invited guests at the Small opening 2004 November 10 including "George Washington's Copy of John Dunlap's First Printing of the Declaration of Independence in the Albert Harrison Small Collection, Washington, D. C." and "The Declaration of Independence with Short Biographies of its Signers,"an engraved glass paperweight, and a compact disk of the story of the signing of the Declaration. Also the guest book containing signatures of dignitaries and guests; the dedication program; a booklet describing the Declaration of Independence collection; a luncheon menu; name cards for the five ribbon cutters plus pieces of the ribbon and the ceremonial scissors; a copy of the schedule of events; labels from wine bottles served; a caterer's packing list and hors d'oeuvres list; Also a poster sized photograph of the Dunlap broadside of the Declaration of Independence on display at the Smithsonian Institution and a crystal block etched with a 3 dimensional view of the library. Also ribbon from the cutting ceremony and a name tag from the opening of the Harrison Institute; invitation and response card to the Harrison opening dinner; dinner menu.
