The collection contains miscellaneous souvenirs of the Special Collections Department move from the second floor of Alderman Library to the Albert and Shirley Small Special Collections Library in the summer of 2004. Items include a National Library Relocations polo shirt worn by the moving team; photographs; a sample move binder prepared for each staff member by co-ordinator Elizabeth Roderick containing floor plans; schedules; notices and memos; and daily monitor assignments. Also clippings and memos documenting the 33 year effort to build a Special Collections Library. Also a copy of the Farewell Song composed and sung by Heather Riser, George Riser and Margaret Hrabe; a sheet filled out by the staff on things they would and would not miss about Alderman; and staff reminiscences from Christina Deane, Sharon Defibaugh, Barb Fehse, Edward Gaynor, Susan Hamburger, Felicia Johnson, Greg Johnson, Page Nelson, Donna Packard, Elizabeth Slomba, and Helen Troy. Also various souvenirs of the Department including signs; labels; a VIRGO user button; a Tracy W. McGregor refrigerator magnet; an envelope of samples of material for display cases in the Stettinius Gallery; a clipping noting a donation to the Santa Fund in memory of [the] Tracy W. McGregor Room; some mouse chewed accession sheets; notes recording the changing of the combination on the vault lock; and some miscellaneous notes, clippings and photograhs including a staff member taking a lie detector test after the theft of 1973, the first treasures and trivia exhibit of 1971, and early Manuscripts employee Frances Harshbarger Kinzie (author of the original Cabell papers guide) on her 90th birthday. Also the call slip for the last item used in Alderman and notes from Stacks Supervisor Greg Johnson on the first item moved and the first item requested [with accompanying cartoon by Dan Weiss].
