Papers of Phi Beta Kappa [manuscript], 1975-1998.

The papers contain correspondence and administrative files of the local chapter. General correspondence files contain letters concerning chapter business including meetings, speakers, and elections, as well as some form letters from other chapters. There is also restricted correspondence regarding the nomination, election and initiation of candidates. Administrative files contain constitution and by laws, programs, membership lists, a logbook of dues paying members, and a compilation of all initiates since the chapter was founded in 1907. The collection also contains an address to initiates by Rita Dove "To make a prairie" And Arthur Stocker's translation of "Gaudeamus Igitur."

Rita Frances Dove (born August 28, 1952) is an American poet and essayist. From 1993 to 1995 she served as the Poet Laureate of the United States. She received the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry in 1987, and also she served as the Poet Laureate of Virginia from 2004 to 2006. Dove was born in Akron, Ohio and graduated from Miami University.
