In June 1912, surviving Confederate alumni from the sessions of 1860-61 through 1864-65, came to the University for a reunion, banquet and conferring of medals. 118 surviving students were invited to attend. The twenty eight veterans who posed for the camera from left to right (and omitting helpers between 17 and 18 and 25 and 26, and at the far left and right) are : W. S. Willis, J. R. Anthony, P. L. DeClouet, R. A. Thornton, C. Conway, C.A. Rutledge, J. W. Shearer, G. L. Christian, E. H. Ingle, E. E. Stickley, W. M. Perkins, T. Mikell, W. P. Moncure, R. H. McKim, W. M. Taliaferro, C. M. Bolton, C. W. Tompkins, J. W. C. Davis, H. E. Shepherd, J. M. Payne, W. H. Chapman, T. S. Beckwith, C. Parkhill, G. D. Wilkinson, A. G. Hill, S. S. Green, H. C. Michie, and C. H. Withrow. Confederate historians C. B. Linney and I. K. Moran are on the far left and right respectively.
