Papers, chiefly concerning J[ames?] M. Booker, consist of 4 checks to General E. Kirby Smith, 1875-1879, from J. M. Booker; a receipt to Booker, 1863 June 30, from W. N. Davis, for the purchase of the slave "Jacob"; and a telegram from Booker, 1862 October 10, from J. B. Jennings, on failure to obtain unspecified goods. The collection also contains a receipt from the Lynchburg Water Works to the Planters Man[ufacuring?] House, 1846; and a receipt to F. B. Hurt from Wm. A. Harris of M W College for tuition for Eulalie Hurt in the preparatory department, 1864.
