Papers of William Cabell Bruce [manuscript], 1801-1945.

The collection contains scrapbooks covering Senator Bruce's career in the U.S. Senate, including correspondence, clippings, addresses, debates, recollections, amendments proposed by him, and a voting record. The collection also contains notebooks on Thomas Jefferson, and notes and drafts for "Thomas Jefferson Self-Revealed," and the draft of an article "Thomas Jefferson, a Democratic preceptor." The collection also contains a Staunton Hill deed book, 1801-1902, with copies of all deeds, pertaining to Staunton Hill; a ledger, 1802-1807, of James Bruce, a letterbook, 1828-1832 of James Bruce, a journal, 1844-1851, of James Coles. Bruce, and a report by Thomas H. Sherrard on Stuanton Hill plantation. There are also miscellaneous legal documents, clippings and Bruce family accounts.
