Henkel family manuscripts [manuscript], 1809-1863, 1910.

Material includes correspondence, Saul Henkel's commission in the Virginia Militia and a contract, 1822, between Solomon and Ambrose Henkel. The earliest letter is, 3 Apr. 1800, Ludwig Benzien to a member o fthe Henkel family and is in German. Other letters follow: Ambrose Henkel to Saul Henkel (German), 5 Nov. 1812; Ambrose to Paul Henkel, ca. 1812, a fragment also in German; Henrich Müller and Henrich Ermentrout, 13 Aug. 1826, to the Synod of Tennessee (German); Jonathan Cramer to Ambrose Henkel, 16 Nov. 1812; the Cape Girardeau Lutherans to the Rev. David Henkel, 11 July 1830. Also Paul Henkel's Daybook and Notebook for the years 1822, 1823, 1824, and "A Memorandum for Spring 1839," being an inventory of household goods.
