Notes taken on law lectures at the University of Virginia, [manuscript], 1833-1862.

The notes on law lectures were taken between April 16, 1833 and May 21, 1833, and are written chiefly on the rectos and were probably taken in the class of [John A. G. Davis?] by [Cabell Tavenner?]. The versos were subsequently used as a drawing book, diary and letterbook with scattered entries dated between 1857 and 1862. Several of the letters are signed "Jennette A. Tavenner, Weston, Lewis County, Va." Of interest are a list of books read during 1861 including Emma Willard's "Abridged history of the United States" and Jane Porter's "Scottish chiefs." There are frequent references to her mother's school teaching.
