Maynard furnished a very vivid description of German air raids over Great Britain and mentions several other aspects of life during wartime such as the morale of the British during the "blitz raids," the collapse of France, American air raid relief, difficulty of communication with other parts of Great Britain, rationing, "tough drunks" living in public air raid shelters and the Germany-Italy-Japan Axis Alliance.
