The papers contain correspondence regarding the Order of the first family of Virginia; speeches and lectures, chiefly on pediatrics and other medical topics, copies of state regulations on quarantines and the licensing of nursing homes and hospitals; a casebook, 1900-1902; lecture notes on embryology, gynecology, surgery, anatomy, and pathology, the latter from the classes of John Staige Davis; a commonplace book with diary entries, 1861, of Alice Josephine Ridley, and two, 1892-93, of Royster; his diary, 1904; two 1870s scrapbooks of poetry and skits; miscellaneous clippings; and photographs, including some U. Va. scenes.
