Correspondence of members of the family, Lutheran and Moravian ministers, friends, and customers discuss the Lutheran Church in Va., N.C., W. Va., Tenn., and Ohio, the family's westward migration, bilingual printing in Virginia, binding, and engraving. There are references to home medicine from serious drugs to occult charms and incantations, and discussions regarding German language schools and "singing schools."
