The collection contains correspondence among family members concerning personal affairs, local events, the family businesses of printing, store keeping, dentistry & the ministry. Of interest is an account of the burning of the New Market Va. academy in 1839. With the papers are a few bills, receipts and legal documents as well as a subscription list, 1808-9, to Der Virginische Volksberichter, und Neumarketer Wochenschrift, published by Ambrose Henkel; a newspaper subscription list, 1815-16, of New Market postmaster Solomon Henkel; memoranda books, 1830 of Winchester merchants John Miller, Adam Miller, George F. Miller, and Godfrey Miller; and diaries and dental practice journal, 1846-49, of William S. Miller.
