Correspondence of the Wise family [manuscript] 1838-50.

A letter, 1850 March 9, Henry Alexander Wise to Richard J. Ayres debates the merits of a return to public service. Seven letters, 1838-49, to Wise from his nephew Tully R. Wise, John H. Wise, & Margaret D. P. Wise. The majority were written while Wise was in Congress and relate to him the latest family news and local events with a few scattered comments on U. S. & Va. politics. The collection also contains a letter of condolence, 1842 April 24 Sarah I. Wise to Richard J. Ayres.
