The collection contains a copy of a letter, 1894 Nov., from Maxmilian Schele de Vere to Mrs. Rosalie Mynn Thornton regarding events at the University. The remaining items consist of work by Hench on de Vere's study of American English and contains notes, drafts, correspondence with the publisher and final copies of Hench's articles "The use by the dictionary of the American English and the dictionary of Americanisms of Schele de Vere's manuscript notes on Americanisms," and "Maxmilian von Schele de Vere and his Americanisms : the English of the new world" (in collaboration with David W. Maurer).
