The collection contains correspondence, 1936-60, with Mayo's publisher Houghton-Mifflin Co., Boston & correspondence, 1948-58, with other Pulitzer Prize committee members. There are scrapbooks of book-review clippings, miscellaneous papers regarding: his publications, and 2 student papers: The religious mind of the Old South: the era of the great revival, 1787-1805, by John Bruce Boles and Prelude to tragedy: the Vietnam policy of the Kennedy administration by Stephen D. Feinberg. Also included is the report of the Thomas Jefferson Bicentennial Commission, 1943.
