Letter to Samuel G. Dor[r?] [manuscript], 1861 July 28.

Wellington gives an eyewitness account of the battle of First Manassas. He notes that his regiment fought for nine hours without food or water and that two men were wounded. He notes that another man was captured in a separate incident. The letter is written on patriotic stationary (a colored vignette of Columbia guarding the flag) and enclosed in a patriotic envelope ( a colored vignette of the hanging of Jefferson Davis).
