Professor Echols graduated from the University of Virginia 1882 July, with a B.S. in Civil Engineering; he held the positions of Adjunct Professor of Applied Mathematics, Superintendent of Grounds and Buildings, and Professor of Mathematics from 1891 until his death in 1934.
