Accounts of the Henkel Family, [manuscript] 1862-1890.

The book contains journal entries for the firm of S. Henkel and Co., 1862-1866, certification of settlement between the firm and its predecessor A. Henkel and son; household, boarding, and the pasture accounts, 1873-1890, of Socrates Henkel, including names and wages of hired help, some black; and journal entries, 1879-1882, for the New Market Polytechnic Institute listing student fees and professors' accounts. Among the loose papers is a lengthy draft of a letter 1881 June 15 from [Socrates Henkel?], New Market, to H.A. (last name possibly Meeby) regarding a dispute over church property in Lexington County, South Carolina.
