Galle's papers consist of correspondence; research notes; photographs and slides; articles; and seed samples relating to his studies of azaleas and hollies. Much of it was used by Galle in the research and writing of his book "Hollies : the Genus Ilex." The collection also contains photostatic copies of two works by Ludwig Eduard Theodor Loesener concerning plants in the holly family including "Monographia Aquifoliacearum." The collection also contains two audiocassettes: 1) Readings of scattered entries from a Satsuki azalea encyclopedia (with entries spelled after they are pronounced); 2) Al Faessler reading an English translation of a text about Theodor Loesener, 1865-1941. Correspondents concerning azaleas include Richard Abel, John Creech, Toichi Domoto, Ted Groszkiewicz, George W. Harding, Dr. J. Hiursel, August E. Kehr, Masaaki Kunishige, Takeo Kuwana, David G.
