The collection contains two mimeographed letters, 1942 August 6 and 8, concerning a student demonstration and burning of President Burruss in effigy over the college administration's lack of response to requests for changes in fees and uniforms, grounds improvements, Sunday movies, and, especially, remedies to unsanitary Mess Hall conditions. With these is a covering letter from John B. Bursley to a friend "Mike" asking him to forward a copy of the first letter to Douglas Southall Freeman of the Richmond News Leader for publication.
