The collection contains a copy of Edgar Allan Poe's short story "The system of Dr. Tarr and Prof. Fether," and a copy of "Traits of travel; or, tales of men and cities," Vol. 1. in which is described a visit to a lunatic asylum which may have been the background to Poe's tale.
