The correspondence consists chiefly of letters from Henry A. Converse to his aunt, Mrs. Mary B. Haralson, of Longmeadow, Mass., concerning the family, life in Philadelphia, the suppression of the "Christian Observer" by federal authorities in 1861, church services, and current events. There are also letters from Converse's father, Amasa Converse, describing conditions in Virginia, and relating family news.
