Jefferson discusses summer operations in the West. Clark has a choice between an expedition against Detroit or a war against the Indians. Mentions the addition of Major George Slaughter's men to Clark's battalion, the extermination or removal of the Shawnees, Mingoes, Munsees and Wyandottes, a proposed chain of posts on the Ohio River connecting Pittsburgh and the falls of the Ohio and the Spanish capture of two forts on the lower Mississippi.
