In the letter requests James to obtain General Vance's account of a conference in Springfield, Ohio, in 1807 in which Tecumseh participated; discusses progress on his book about Tecumseh; discusses book he coauthored with Charles Stewart Todd about William Henry Harrison; supports Harrison's candidacy for President. In letter also mentions local politics including prospective candidates Nathaniel Greene Pendleton and Mr. Spencer; mentions John C. Wright, the "Cincinnati Gazette," V.P. James, and the death of Charles Hammond.
