Letter, 1893 March 20, from Julian Taylor congratulates Dabney on his new office with the State Department and asks Dabney's assistance in putting Taylor's name forward for a promotion to third assistant secretary, as Taylor is also involved in diplomatic work with the State Department. Letter, 1895 April 4, from Henry M. Smythe, Port au Prince, introduces Mr. Leowi(?) as a first hand witness to events concerning Haiti's revolutions. Smythe also expresses concern that several of his letters of the past year have not been answered. Letter, 1895 June 21, from Isaac Smith, Consul General of Siam, New York, introduces George Putnam Smith who is familiar with the check claim against the Siamese government.
