Papers of the Lea family [manuscript], 1770-1949 (bulk 1770-1866).

Papers of the Lea and allied families of Delaware and Pennsylvania include correspondence, financial papers, legal papers, clippings and notes, a broadside, sketches and illustrations, and a photograph. Financial papers of Thomas Lea, Wilmington, Del., contain letters concerning flour and wheat prices, and papers regarding the estate of Cantwell Jones. Financial papers of William Lea, Wilmington, Del., concern Brandywine Mills and the estate of Thomas Lea. Miscellaneous material includes newsclippings and notes pertaining to the Lea family and Brandywine Village (Wilmington, Del.); a New Jersey three shilling note, 1776; indentures, 1794-1828, for land sales in Delaware and Pennsylvania; land grants for tracts in Northampton County, Penna., 1795-1809; a draft plat of a tract of land in Bradford County, Penna.; and architectural plans and sketches for an unidentified school. Sketches and illustrations include a ribbon depicting the Women's Pavilion at the Philadelphia International Exhibition; silhouettes and a bookplate; engravings of Washington's Tomb and the East River; and a photograph of Brandywine Mills.
