Hatcher, noting record of bonds primarily from individuals drawing from Richmond, Va., and Petersburg, Va., financial institutions. There is also a memorandum book, 1861-1866, kept by Edward S. Brown of Cumberland County, Va., recording medical and legal fees, travel expenses, and slave hires.
