Letters, 1854, of George Stuart to his wife Margaret, written in Lynchburg describe weather, his health, board meetings, and attending a Baptist church service. A letter, 3 February 1855, from James W. Stuart, written at the University of Virginia, concerns payment for board, plans to study engineering, and requesting additional funds. A letter, 16 April 1855, describes the Jefferson Society's celebration of Thomas Jefferson's birthday, various speakers, and an upcoming trial; letter, 15 May 1855, also referring to the same trial, and inquiring about a stage coach robbery in North Carolina.
