Royal patent granted to Bernardo de Gálvez [manuscript], 1783.

The royal patent, 1783, grants high honors and a new addition to the heraldic coat of arms of Bernardo de Gálvez for his activities in Louisiana against the British. It also includes a brief account of Bernardo de Gálvez's career, describing his activities in New Spain against the Apaches (1763), his tenure as Deputy Governor of Spanish Louisiana, his handling of border incidents with the British on the Mississippi River during the early 1770's, his actions against the British during the American Revolution, including actions against Fort Manchak (La.), Baton Rouge, and Mobile, and his conquest of Pensacola in 1781. The patent also contains a color illustration of his new coat of arms.
