Papers consist chiefly of Kehr's correspondence with fellow rhododendron and magnolia enthusiasts. Topics include the American Rhododendron Society, the American Rhododendron Society Research Foundation, and the Magnolia Society, and their meetings; and the breeding and propagation of magnolias and rhododendrons. Of interest are letters on rhododendron culture in New Zealand, and on magnolia culture in Switzerland, Norway and Sweden. Some personal correspondence is included. In addition the papers contain some chapter newsletters; papers and articles; photographs; Kehr's 4-H club scrapbook, 1924-1931; a resume; and a few printed items. Major correspondents include Os Blumhardt, Phelan Bright, Dorothy Callaway, John D. Carlson, Frank B. Galyon, Harry Heinemann, Joseph W. HIckman, Lennarth Jonsson, Olav Kalleberg, Sandra McDonald, Virginia Melnick, and Philip Seitner. Albemarle County resident Jay Gillenwater is also a correspondent.
