The collection consists chiefly of correspondence pertaining to literary matters and the writing career of Casey. Topics in the correspondence include publishing advice, a libel suit against Michael Mewshaw, news of former students and their literary accomplishments, royalties on "Stories of Breece D'J Pancake," and other writers including Cormac McCarthy, David Malouf, Michael O'Rourke, Mary Lee Settle, Peter Taylor, and Paul Watkins.
