World War I postcards [manuscript], 1917-1980.

The collection contains a booklet of 24 postcards (22 intact) showing scenes at Senlis and nearby villages following bombing during the Battle of the Marne, including the home of Albéric Magnard. The collection also contains fourteen postcards of United States military posters from the Collection of Meehan Military Posters, New York, N.Y., generally encouraging enlistment or the purchase of liberty bonds. In addition there are eight postcards of scenes in military life, including the crew of the U.S.S. Von Steuben, a German prisoner of war camp at Saint Nazaire, officers of the camp at Saint Nazaire, U.S. infantry and English tanks in action, boxing match at Camp Grant, and YMCA scenes including a volleyball game. Three of the postcards contain notes home including a request to the Headley Chocolate Company of Baltimore for the wholesale price of Pal O Mine candy.
