Journal of John Smibert [manuscript], 1709-1747.

The journal contains accounts, 1709, of expenses for a journey from Edinburgh, Scotland,to London, England; diary entries, 1719, for a journey from Edingburgh to Rome; accounts (n.d.) for furnishings for his Covent Garden apartment; and accounts, 1722, for pictures painted. Also included are diary entries, 1728-29 for his journey from London to Newport, R.I., via Virginia, accompanying George Berkeley, and notes 1730-47, of his marriage to Mary Williams Smibert and births and deaths of their children, chiefly in Boston, Massachusetts. Accounts, 1729-46, of pictures painted and some poetry complete the journal.
