Pencil sketch of La Clavel [manuscript], 1922.

Shinn, art director for the movie based on Joseph Hergesheimer's book The Bright Shawl, sketched Dorothy Gish as La Clavel who wore "the bright shawl" in the film. The sketch was laid in a presentation copy of the book given by Hergesheimer to Shinn when they were on location in Havanna.
