Papers of the Meikleham family [manuscript], 1799-1887.

The papers of the Meikleham and related Randolph and Eppes families consist chiefly of correspondence, notebooks and memorabilia of Septimia Anne Cary Randolph Meikleham. Of interest are letters, 1838-1839, describing her trip to Pensacola, Fla., and Havana, Cuba, and her social life there; a letter, 1843, re a trip to Scotland; and correspondence, 1882, re a Congressional relief bill for her. An undated letter [ca. 1879] discusses Levy ownership of Monticello. Miscellaneous items include her school grades, dance invitations, drawings, calling cards, a 1799 clothes inventory, school essays, poems, music, a photograph of Eleanora Jefferson Meikleham, and a pamphlet "Lady Washington's Reception Day" describing a painting.
