The papers contain a letter, 1938 May 30, from Robert Frost, Amherst, Mass., to Julius J. Lankes regarding a Guggenheim Fellowship; a note from Lankes to Emily Lankes regarding the letter; copies of deeds, 1928 and 1979, between J. Hugh Michaels and Frost and between Kenneth C. Noland and Norman and Frances Lear for lands in Bennington County, Vermont; and two black- and-white photographs, ca. 1954, of the Shaftsbury, Vermont, railroad station. Also included are an essay by Julius Bartlett Lankes entitled, North of Boston Two, 1982, containing background information on J. J. Lankes's woodcut, Christmas Dawn, based on Frost's home Gulley Farm; and three postcards from Louis Isaac Jaffé to J. J. Lankes.
