Perry family papers [manuscript], 1834-1924.

Most of the collection consists of financial papers of William Hartwell Perry (b. 1836), a Nottoway County, Va. lawyer. The collection contains medical bills of William Hartwell Perry (1802-1870), a Lunenburg County, Va. physician, as well as a revised schedule of medical fees necessitated by Civil War inflation. Many of his medical receipts concern the treatment of slaves. There is some legal correspondence, especially over the settlement of an estate in the Scott family in which Perry's wife was a party. A letter from Beverley Dandridge Tucker is concerned with the sale of a church, and one from Perry to William Hodges Mann discusses a revision in the state code concerning incapacitated trustees.
