The collection contains journal entries, 1773-1781, concerning the estate of Lawrence Washington; a fragment concerning a suit of chancery, 1816, brought before the Greenbrier County Court by Lawrence Washington against George W.P. Custis, Bushrod Washington and others; and an account of Samuel Harestone with John Harvie, 1752-1756, brought before John Fry, Albemarle County Court, 1762.

Washington, Bushrod (1762-1829) was the son of Hannah Bushrod and John Augustine Washington, the younger brother of George Washington.
