Indenture of Sir Henry Unton [manuscript], 1587 May 22.

By the indenture, Unton, of Oxfordshire, his wife Dame Dorothy, his brother and sister-in-law Edward and Catherine Unton, convey to Samuel Cocke of London 2000 acres of land including 7 manors and other estates, gardens, meadows, woods and pastures. The document bears the remains of Unton's wax seal.

Unton, the second son of Sir Edward Unton, was educated at Oriel College, Oxford, knighted by Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester for his services during the siege of Zutphen, was Elizabeth I's personal envoy to Henry IV of France, 1591, member of Parliament for New Woodstock, 1584, and Berkshire, 1592-1593, and ambassador to France, 1595.
