Papers of the Berkeley family chiefly pertaining to the estate of James L. Stratton [manuscript], 1835-1898.

The collection contains correspondence, legal and financial papers accumulated by William White Crissey as trustee for the estate of Stratton, and by Annie E. Coffin Crissey, his wife. It includes papers concerning Smith, Stratton and Company, New York, N.Y., a varnish manufacturing firm, and also the Hudson Orphan and Relief Association, a residuary legatee. There are also two letters, 1835 and 1840, by Stratton on business trips to Augusta, Ga., and Norfolk, Va. Correspondents include Robert Benner, attorney for the estate, and Eliza Stratton, executrix.
