Papers of Lewis Dabney Crenshaw [manuscript], 1917-1936.

The collection contains correspondence, financial papers, photographs and war service records compiled by Crenshaw as Director of the European Bureau. Topics include the operation of the Bureau; activities of University of Virginia alumni in World War I including those at Base Hospital 41; the Jefferson [Founder's] Day Centennial Celebration, 1919, in Paris; the University of Virginia World War Veterans Association; and plans, 1932-38, of Crenshaw and Ernest Schoen to publish a war record of alumni, students and faculty. The collection also contains Holsinger Studio photographs of University of Virginia Ambulance sections 16 and 17, the University of Virginia Student Army Training Corps and University janitor and bell ringer Henry Martin.
