Papers, 1860-1970, of Brown and of Tilghman Howard Bunch [manuscript].

The papers of Brown contain correspondence, memoranda, press releases, clippings, and voter lists, 1961-1971, pertaining to the Clarke County, Va., Democratic Party, Brown's candidacy for a House of Delegates seat in 1961, the U.S. Senate elections, 1966, and the State Senate elections in 1965. The papers of Bunch consist chiefly of correspondence and photographs. The correspondence contains letters written home from the U.S.S. Scorpion while on a tour of duty in the Mediterranean as well as letters written to him, 1925-1940. Photographs are of friends, family members and places visited on his 1926 tour. There are also Bible records and genealogical materials pertaining to the Lewis family; an account of the "Valley manuscript" or ficticious commonplace book of Margaret Lynn Lewis; papers pertaining to the estate of Mattie L[ewis?] Warwick; vacation itineraries; and memorabilia, newsclippings, and miscellany pertaining to Bunch's family and naval career, particularly his service on the presidential yacht "Mayflower."
