Memo concerning challenge to a horse race [manuscript], 1841 July 5.

William and Edmund Townes wager $10,000 on the outcome of a race on the New Market course between two three-year-old horses sired by Sarpedon against any two three-year-olds sired by Priam. Appended to the challenge is a note to the editor of the "Spirit of the Times" explaining the challenge.
