Abstract

The papers consist chiefly of letters to Pendleton from family in Clarke County, Va., and friends who attended school with her at the Rev. James McElroy's and Dr. Fisher's in Staunton, and center on news of family and friends, illnesses and deaths, local events and religion. There is a manuscript obituary and a poem for William Madison Chapman who died in the Western Lunatick Hospital. James McElroy is a correspondent.
