Greene describes his capture by Lomax's cavalry following the battle of Trevilian Station and his subsequent imprisonment in a military prison at Charleston, S.C. He mentions meeting Fitzhugh Lee and Col. Munford, staying at Charlottesville and Richmond, Va., for brief periods after his capture, his illness in prison and his acquaintance with Col. Litchfield, a fellow prisoner.
