In a letter, July 25, to Daniel Manning, Doesticks anticipates seeing Manning at the theater and states that his lecture on "Pluck" will be brief, so he hopes Manning will allow his men to attend. In another letter, undated, to Edmund Clarence Stedman, Doesticks expresses gratitude to Stedman, notes that his own lectures are in verse, and gives titles.
