Papers of John Gneisenau Neihardt [manuscript], 1920-1966.

The papers contain the manuscripts of two poems, one beginning "Let me live out my years . . ." and one titled "Easter," and thirteen letters chiefly to Will Owen Jones, editor of "The State Journal," Nebraska re Neihardt's progress on his writing, especially "The song of the Indian wars" and "The splendid wayfaring"; editorials by Jones re Neihardt's work; his extensive speaking tours; his personal circumstances and health; the possibility of his appointment to the Professorship of Poetry at the University of Nebraska; his book, "More truth than poetry"; and his views on death. There is also a printed announcement of the birth of his daughter, Alice. The correspondents include Marshall [Bean?] or [Benn?], the editor of "The Literary Review," [Will Orton Tewson], and Will Owen Jones.
